Interested in becoming a radio amateur?

Why not turn up at one of our meeting? We’re a friendly lot, and can answer your questions.

Becoming a radio amateur is not difficult; there are several levels of amateur radio: Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced. As you might guess, Foundation level is the easiest, and advanced is the hardest. There is no requirement to advance to higher levels.

Although you do need to take an exam for each level, the Foundation exam is pretty easy to pass; it just needs some common sense. There are some practicals to take as well but, again, mostly common sense will get you through. There are some training classes to help get you through the different levels so you are not left to your own devices.
