For the September meeting we invited some valve equipment enthusiasts to come along and bring examples of their collections. We had several examples of early communications receivers, mostly working and a good display of loose valves to pick up and discuss.
- Colin, G3YHV having a go on a restored American BC-348 receiver belonging to and restored by Andy, G4RIC (standing on the right). Behind is an R1155 also restored by Andy.
- Here we have some examples of loose valves of various types. Malcolm, G8NT provided some interesting information on some of the different types.
- Some more examples of loose valves of various types. Malcolm, G8NT.
- A good example of an RCA AR-88 receiver belonging to Luke 2E0VHV.
- G3YHV showing off some of his more unusual valves to 2E0GHT, G4OTJ and G8NT. Colin brought a couple of his construction projects. One being an SSB transmitter but with keypad entry of frequency and a PIC/DDS VFO (much to G4RIC’s horror as he is a bit of a purist when it comes to valve equipment). Another was a 40/80m CW transmitter using some ancient valves, one dating from the 1920s.
- Some of the members and guests in discussion and enjoying a cup of tea.
